Not necessarily. While most clients submit a digital image from their phone or camera, a physical photograph can absolutely be used, provided it’s in good condition and can be scanned at high resolution.

A printed photograph is a strong candidate if the image is clear and in focus; the print is not heavily creased, torn, or faded; the subject’s face and features are fully visible; the photo is at least 4×6 in size (larger is better); and the image has not been excessively cropped.

Very small prints, wallet-sized photos, heavily damaged prints, or photos printed from low-resolution files may not produce the quality needed for enlargement.

Have the image professionally scanned at 600–1200 DPI and sent as a high-resolution digital file. Most local print labs or office supply stores can do this.

Please note that while scanning can improve clarity, it cannot restore detail that was not present in the original print.

Yes. Rainbow Sessions are for pets who are still with us. A legacy portrait is created after loss, using an existing photograph that you provide. It’s designed for people who always meant to book with me, but didn’t have the chance before their pet passed.

Legacy portraits begin at $1,995, which includes painterly artwork creation, museum-grade canvas, and your choice of signature framing. The frame is part of the finished artwork, not an add-on, so what you receive is a complete, display-ready piece.

Yes. You can either purchase a legacy portrait on their behalf or gift a legacy portrait commission, starting at $1,995, so your recipient can choose the image and details when they’re ready. I can also help you determine the most thoughtful way to present the gift.
