Today is one of my favorite days of the year: the official start of fall. I just love this time of year, I really do!
Do you know what I love most about fall? It’s not the return of cooler days, western Pennsylvania’s colorful foliage, or pumpkin-flavored everything (although all that’s great and anyone who knows me knows I will never turn down pumpkin); it’s the many photos my family and friends are sharing all over social media as their kiddos head back to school.
It’s the side-by-side comparisons from the previous year to the present that remind us how quickly the ones we love grow and change.
It’s the reminders of sweetness and happiness during times of adversity that give meaning and emotion when words fail.
It’s the memories made timeless that connect us with extraordinary emotions, incredible places, and special people.
Whether or not we realize it the moment we snap a picture, we need these memories of our family, of our friends, and of our pets. We need them for those times when we will inevitably forget the way our fur baby’s head felt resting on our lap, for the times when we can’t remember how much of our side of the bed was occupied by four sprawled-out legs, and for those times when we may just need a reason to smile.
Brené Brown said, “In the ordinary moments of our lives is really where we can find the most joy.” When you think of it that way, nothing is ever truly ordinary.
What memories will you make this fall? Whatever they may be, keep photographing them. Keep sharing. Get them off your computer, your camera, or your phone. Print them, frame them, or toss them in a scrapbook. Just don’t let them slip by undocumented. They are more than ordinary moments.
When you’re ready to capture those extraordinary moments with your cherished companion, I’d love to be there for you. Choose your adventure below to begin.
