Scroll through your Facebook or Instagram feed and there’s no denying that we love sharing nearly every aspect of our lives on social media. Technology has become perhaps the most prevailing components of our society that it only makes sense why some clients have such strong desires for their digital files. I also understand, however, that the pet parents who book with me possess an even stronger appreciation for archival quality artwork where they can enjoy it every day. (And in case you’re wondering, that’s not on a USB tucked away in a desk drawer full of odds and ends.)
Don’t get me wrong: I’m sure many clients purchase these files with the intention of someday printing their images, but as is often said, “It’s not intentions that matter. It’s action.” For many of us (myself included), it’s too easy to put things off until someday, you know…the day that falls between eventually and sooner or later…the day just never seems to come.
One of my favorite quotes is that of Michael Howard who said, “Framing a print acknowledges the power of a frozen moment. Out of all the images taken it says, ‘This is worth seeing every day!'” Creating a piece of art made just for your home and one which you’ll cherish for generations is a large aspect of the Bark & Gold Photography experience. I value the worth in capturing the joy and love between you and your pet and understand firsthand the happiness and comfort you’ll find in reliving that special bond day after day.
While many people may think that they want high-resolution digital files, what I’ve found is that most people just want them for sharing with family and friends, on social media, etc.–and that does not require them to be high-resolution. That’s why I offer complimentary watermarked web-sized digital images of each purchased product image. Clients who still want high-resolution digital files may purchase them in collections of five, 10, or all.
Where do you stand on the need for high-resolution digital files? I’d love to hear your opinion in the comments.
