Oliver’s North Shore Session – Pittsburgh Pet Photography

From a spunky travel companion to the four-legged reason Tom regularly logs 12,000+ steps on his daily downtown walks, Oliver, a nine-year-old Cairn terrier mix, is a little dog that’s no doubt a big part of his dad’s life.

“Oliver came two hours after our former dog, Scruffy, died,” shares Tom who adds that Scruffy came into the family from his neighbors across the street–the parents of actress Jennifer Lawrence. “My oldest son [Frank] and his acapella singing group from Yale were traveling on a spring break tour when they came to Louisville. The group took [Frank] to the local animal shelter and they picked out Oliver.”

With that in mind, it was important for Tom to capture some photos of Oliver and Frank together. Frank, who recently relocated to San Francisco, liked the idea of having Heinz Field in the background.

I love that Oliver took this time as his cue to show his human brother some love in the form of a big wet kiss on the nose.

“For a nine-year-old dog, Oliver has a good bit of energy, but you can see that he is slowing down,” says Tom.

When Tom told me during our pre-session consultation that Oliver’s Cairn terrier mix mohawk is always commented on when they go for walks, I knew I had to capture this fun detail. It totally matches Oliver’s rockstar personality!
