Biggie’s Bullies Selected for 2020 Pet Calendar Contest

Bark & Gold Photography is excited to announce its recipient organization for the 2020 pet calendar contest is Biggies Bullies, a non-salaried 501c3 non-profit foster home-based rescue founded in 2011 in Pittsburgh.

As a small rescue that is 100% volunteer developed and staffed, Biggie’s Bullies is dedicated to rescuing and re-homing pit bull type dogs in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas by making appropriate matches to the right families to ensure proper placement and remaining a lifelong resource for those families with love, care, and humane training. The rescue also works to educate the public on responsible pet ownership, positive force free training, and the importance of spaying and neutering their pets.

You can enter your pet by submitting his photo along with a $5 entry donation, which goes directly toward helping Biggies Bullies continue its efforts. Entries and voting are open from Jan. 15 to Mar. 15 and will determine the top 13 pets that will join Bark & Gold Photography for a professional on-location photography session for their feature in the 2020 calendar. The highest vote-getter will earn the coveted cover spot.

We are also honored to have nine local Pittsburgh pet-friendly businesses supporting this contest with their donations of weekly mini-contest prizes, which will go to the one pet each week who receives the highest number of new votes each week over the nine-week fundraiser. Please join me in thanking Biskit’s Barkery, Diamond Daisy Design, DogGone Candles, Goblin Girl Designs, Grand Paws Pet Salon, Liffey Pop Designs, PupCycled, and Scout Dog. Bark & Gold Photography will kick off the mini-contest prizes with a complimentary Fine Art Pawtrait Session of the winner’s choice and a $100 wall art credit.

Pet parents not local to the greater Pittsburgh area, but who still wish to participate in this year’s contest can take advantage of a special option that reserves an empty calendar grid space for, guaranteeing those pets a spot among the calendar dates. Simply choose a favorite photo, one of the limited empty grid spaces for your desired month, and pay your $10 donation. This is a great way to honor a four-legged friend or celebrate a gotcha-day or birthday! Each month has a limited number of blank squares–before and after the dated ones–in each grid and will be filled on a first come, first served basis, so don’t delay in reserving yours.

All proceeds from entries, votes, and calendar sales assist Biggies Bullies in its work with its pit bulls and further programs like Hungry Hippos Food Pantry and its Freedom Harness Exchange.

I am excited and optimistic that with your support in entering, voting, and campaigning for your dog along with the community efforts of Pittsburgh’s pet-focused small businesses, Biggie’s Bullies will reach its fundraising goal of $5,000+! I encourage you to join me in supporting this amazing rescue with your entry and votes when the calendar contest opens on Jan. 15.
