Winnie, Cliff, and Family at Schenley Park – Downtown Pittsburgh Pet Photography

If you’re a family, there is only one way you’re getting in front of my lens: you’re bringing your fur kids with you as the main focus, of course! Such was the case with this sweet family who joined me in late June with their gorgeous Portuguese Water Dogs, Winnie and Cliff, outside Phipps Conservatory near Schenley Park. Winnie and Cliff were two very good dogs and two of very few who were actually able to be unleashed throughout our session.

What I love about this particular area is that, even though we are technically right in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh, it offers the perfect balance of city and nature. We started at Phipps Conservatory using the architectural elements of the main entrance’s front steps as well as those outside The Botany Hall. It was there that mom Maggie asked for a few photos of the family all together explaining that a super posed look was not her style. With Winnie and Cliff keeping all of us laughing with their expressions and energy, we captured several relaxed family portraits, one of which Maggie and her husband chose for a small 11×14 framed print for their living room.

For this portrait, the couple chose a classic black frame to complement the rest of their living room’s modern decor. Look closely and you’ll notice how the subtle luxury linen texture gives this modern frame a slightly classic look. The also added a special 5×7 gift print of their son with Winnie and Cliff, which he was so excited to frame and display on his desk, and another of the pups with Pittsburgh’s iconic Cathedral of Learning in the background.

After their session, Maggie wrote me the following to share her appreciation for capturing these memorable family photos:

“You were wonderful…so patient and very responsive! We loved the photo shoot itself. You had great ideas and really captured our pooches’ energy and personality. Because this was our first ever professional photography experience, we had pretty low expectations, [but] we were definitely blown away by how fun it was!”

Thank you, Maggie and family, for the kind words and a fun evening full of laughter and memories! Knowing that the joy and love you felt during our time together is captured for you to enjoy every time you pass by your beautiful art on your wall warms my heart as much as I know it does yours!
