Pittsburgh Dog Photographer Ranks Among top 10 Percent in International Photo Contest

If there’s one thing the pandemic didn’t affect, it was the number of incredible images that photographers from all over the world entered into Shoot & Share’s annual international photo contest. This being my third year entering, I can honestly say the level of artistry and creativity was off the charts!

Submissions for the 2020 contest opened in early April with a total of 561,997 photos submitted over 28 categories by photographers from 118 different countries. For the second year in a row, I went “all-in” and entered 50 total images between the pets/animals, styled shoots/fashion, sports, and creative categories. These categories grew tremendously from last year, increasing to 26,653 submissions within pets/animals,19,340 under styled shoots/fashion, and 20,865 entries in the creative category.

After 12 rounds of voting, I am extremely pleased to share my results from this year’s contest, which exceeded my previous two years’. I had five images place in the top 30%, six images finish in the top 20%, and two images make the top 10%.

Among the images that placed in the top 30% are two taken during a styled shoot with the Flourish Academy, one of Uschi the Miniature Dachshund, one of my favorite portraits of Beatrice the Bulldog, and a sweet shot of Yoda from his first Puppy Love Session. Each of these made it through to round 9 before being eliminated.

Those falling in the top 20% included two stunning silhouette shots, a creative double exposure of Hunter, and another Puppy Love Session photo superhero pup Bella.

Lastly, here are the two that broke the top 10%, meaning they made it through to round 11. The top image of Hank and his mom was my highest ranking submission this year, coming in 2,653 out of 26,653 in the pets/animals category.

Which of these images are your favorites? I’d love to hear in the comments!
